Tega Brain and Golan Levin talk about their recently published book, “Code as Creative Medium: A Handbook for Computational Art and Design.” Picking up where standard programming guides leave off, they present alternative programming pedagogies suitable for the art- and design-oriented classroom, including teaching approaches, resources, and community support structures. This keynote was presented at the third Design Educators Typography Intensive (DETI), a global virtual learning environment offered by Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography (HMCT) in the summer of 2021. This “Deep Dive” instructional intensive was designed for university-level instructors and focused on teaching methods for both basic and new applications of typography.
