I could have used this last night. Terrible sleep, probably because of the 6pm coffee. Super interesting to see you expand to a physical product after running Calm, a website and app, for several years. Are you planning to make other physical products, @tewy?
Alex Tew
@rrhoover yes! We love the idea of creating more physical products to compliment the Calm app, and taking the brand offline more generally. It's actually been part of the vision for Calm from day 1. We have some big plans!

@tewy any hints at what's next? A bed mattress? White noise machine? Incense? A robot that massages feet?
Inna Semenyuk
@tewy @rrhoover Ryan have you tried Calm's Sleep Stories? You'll be asleep in minutes once you start listening to one of them :) My fav is Trans-Siberian Railroad and there's even one narrated by Stephen Fry! http://calm.com/sleep

@rrhoover definitely thinking about we can help make homes more calm :)
Aaron Rinksalis
@rrhoover @tewy with the upcoming surge in baby boomers getting older and needing at home care and often anxiety relief, exploring ways to make the home (or nursing home, assisted living apartment, etc) more calm will be so impactful and appreciated. Love the app, keep up the awesome work!

We designed Sleep Mist to be the perfect pair to Sleep Stories, our sleep inducing bedtime tales for adults. Think aromatherapy meets audiotherapy. While both are powerful on their own, their combined value is greater than the sum of their parts, especially when looking to improve sleep and overcome insomnia.

I use Calm in the morning and before bed, loyal customer here so I'll probably pick this up! Is there lavender? Gotta have lavender before bed. 💤

Calm is praised for its guided meditations, sleep stories, and soothing sounds, which help users unwind and improve sleep. Users appreciate its role in enhancing mental well-being, though some find content repetitive. The makers of Psychpedia highlight its pioneering role in health and fitness, while SkillZilla Life Skills makers commend its focus on mental health. Despite some criticism about navigation and content focus, Calm remains a valuable tool for relaxation and mindfulness.

The only good thing I can really say about this app is that the rain soundscapes are probably the best I've found on any app. The stories were weird for trying to sleep to, but maybe that's just me. The ability to browse all of their content is somewhat limited as well--hard to know where to navigate to sometimes. A lot of what I listened to, especially in the Daily Jay, seemed over-focused on productivity, being the best I can be, self-improvement, etc.--rather than learning to accept and love myself as I am. Self help content can often be subtly toxic this way, and I'd rather not get it from something selling itself as having psychological benefits. I told my therapist that I had gotten it, and she promptly told me to uninstall it--turns out she hates the app with a passion, and many of her colleagues feel likewise. My qualifications: I have practiced meditation for years--both silent, zen-style meditation with a local sangha and guided meditations a la Headspace. I struggle with depression, PTSD, and ADHD and have experienced many treatment modalities over the years--including extensive mindfulness practice. TLDR: some good, but plenty of toxic self help rather than evidence-based psychological content. Plenty of other apps that are cheaper or free.

I can define it for me as the pioneer of health and fitness category in the App Store. It sparked the idea that I could combine psychology and mindfulness thanks to my background as a psychologist.
