Got to say "Where Is My Flying Car" by J Storrs Hall. Recommended by @packyM. Very different book from what I normally read. Gives a detailed history of the progress of different technologies over the past few centuries.

Fantastic book He details what life could look like given what we know is possible with technology He also illustrates the actual bottlenecks and restraints that have held us back so far Hint: it’s not technical capability or energy

I'm reading "Where is my Flying Car?" Which is getting me very fired up about nuclear and nanotech. Highly recommend.
