Michael Aaron Nielsen (born January 4, 1974) is a quantum physicist, science writer, and computer programming researcher living in San Francisco.

Associate professor of economics at George Mason University and research associate at the Future of Humanity Institute of Oxford University. Known for work on idea futures and markets, involvement in the creation of Foresight Institute's Foresight Exchange and DARPA's FutureMAP project. Inventor of market scoring rules like LMSR used by prediction markets.
