The vast majority of you set goals like: get more fit or earn more money.

There's nothing wrong with either of those, but the key to having more time to pursue those goals is saying "no" to things that take up a lot of time.

A thread on 13 things you should stop doing in 2023:

Slow down to go fast. Eliminate unnecessary commitments. Do less. Focus on quality, not quantity. Life is better when its unrushed.

Learn to accept the things you do not have control over and then practice being more decisive on the things you can.

The world rewards people who take action.

I get it. You're worried you'll be uninformed, but the media today is designed to scare, distract and divide us.

If something really important happens, you'll hear about it.

When 71% of people age 20+ are overweight, perhaps you should do the opposite of what they do. There's nothing wrong with treating yourself sometimes, but limit things like breakfast cereal, chips, and foods that come in a box.

Seed oils are modern day poisons and they're hidden in everything you eat.

Life is way too short to work a job you hateโ€”especially in this economy. Don't quit cold turkey, but start looking around.

This career guide from @80000Hours is one of the best resources I've encountered: 80000hours.org/career-guide/

There's nothing wrong with an occasional break, but most of you are going to regret wasting so much time.

There's much better ways to use your time:

Read a book, exercise, connect with someone, make something.

Don't be too prideful to ask for help.

Nobody gets to the top alone. Sherpas guide people up Mr. Everest.

At the end of most great books is an acknowledgements page that thanks 50 people.

Thatโ€™s not a coincidence.

@JamesClear is 100% spot on with this tweet. It can be hard sometimes, but internalize this advice.

The world is full of haters and crabs trying to drag you back into the bucket. They're projecting their own insecurities. Keep leveling up and pay them no mind.

If you can't change it, stop worrying about it. If you can, then take the first step, but stop complaining.

There's no greater waste of time and it'll simultaneously make you unhappy and awful to be around. The opposite of complaining is gratitude.
๐Œ๐š๐ค๐ข๐ง๐  ๐„๐ฑ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ

Stop making excuses and start making changes. Whether it's fear of failure, the unknown, or something else, it's time to take personal responsibility and stop making excuses. You know what you have to do. Get started on the most important task.
๐€๐ฏ๐จ๐ข๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐›๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ฌ

You're avoiding the difficult thing you should be doing. Distracting yourself is not the cure.

Problems are not usually as bad as the story you're telling yourself. Face your problems, determine the next best action and take it.
That's a wrap!
