Here is the ultimate guide to NFT and crypto security:

In this thread I’ll cover:

1. Use a hardware wallet
2. Store your seed phrase securely
3. Use a hot/cold wallet system
4. Always read the fine print
5. Revoke permissions
6. Never trade NFT's
7. Don’t interact with NFT’s you don’t recognize
8. Be suspicious of all mint links

🔶Use a Hardware Wallet

This is one that most know, but still don’t do

Stop delaying, buy a hardware wallet now

Hardware wallets keep your private keys offline, away from hackers

I own a Ledger, but any hardware wallet will do

$100 to keep your thousands of dollars safe

🔶Store your seedphrase in a safe

A common mistake users make is writing their seed phrase on a post-it note

This is easily discovered by house guests, cleaners, and curious children

Write your seed phrase on a piece of paper and store it in a safe. Target has cheap ones

🔶Use a hot/cold wallet system

A cold wallet is useless if you start connecting it to sites

Never sign any contracts with your cold wallet

Use a hot wallet to
-Sign contracts
-Make payments
-Buy and sell NFTs

Use a cold wallet to
-Receive NFT’s from your hot wallet

🔶Never “Set Approval For All” in Metamask

When signing smart contracts, always verify what permissions you’re giving

NEVER approve a request that sets approval for all

Always read the fine print when signing any contracts

Avoid ones that look like this:

🔶Revoke all permissions every week

It’s a good practice to revoke your permissions regularly

This ensures if a company is ever hacked, they can’t retroactively take advantage of you

Every Saturday morning I use revoke.cash/ to revoke all permissions on my wallet

🔶Never trade NFT’s

A common scam bad actors will pull are NFT trades

They’ll get you to use a scam site to pull off an OTC trade

NEVER use these trade sites

Most are malicious, and others are regularly hacked

To do an OTC deal, make a private offer on Opensea

🔶Never Interact with NFTs airdropped to you

Hackers are always coming up with clever ways to steal from you

One way is airdropping NFTs into your wallet with malicious code

Never interact with NFTs you don’t recognize in your wallet

Even a click could drain your whole wallet

🔶Never click any suspicious mint links

Influencers are targets

Before clicking any mint link, always verify on Twitter, Discord, and the website that it’s legit

Red flags:

-Replies turned off
-Stealth mint
-Mint isn’t mentioned on any other platform

If you follow each of these tips, you can rest easy at night knowing your odds of getting hacked are near 0.
