This was a much needed thread Adam, thanks for sharing these thoughts. People should set up the life they want. Not the life those that would profit from your life want you to setup.

That was an excellent read Cyrus, as an immigrant myself it definitely resonates. I saw so many people stumble on some money only to spend way above their means. This is a great lesson to learn early, can save a lot of pain.

And this phenomenon seems to occur in many dominant industries at their peak. Could be a signal of the end. Wall St. did the exact same thing in their hay day, in the 80s, right before the dive. Michael Lewis has a wonderful book on this. The parallels to Big Tech are uncanny.

The piece was excellent before but now it’s even* better than the early draft. I think that photo of young Daniel sitting in the middle of the street embracing randomness puts it over the top. (Oh and the family photos too)
