This is a really good thread. A lot of people think that a book starting with "action" means an actual "pew-pew fight fight" action scene. No, it means a scene in which something happens that is a keystone to the whole story. Take it out, and everything falls apart.

Well, this book. Cold West by @claytonsnyder. It is astonishingly well written. It is under 200 pages. It is dark and gut-wrenching and parts Unforgiven and Gladiator with a touch of Stewart O'Nan. Just go and grab it already.

In my continuing efforts to review books I've read this year (and read more)... Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeiries by Heather Fawcett! I loved it. I loved the journalistic style, the prickly main characters, the moments of peril. Definitely looking forward to the sequel!

LOVED this book. Absolutely want it as a television series. Like, yesterday.

Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies. So much better than Frozen, and completely overshadowed by it since it came out just a couple years before it.
