This afternoon, @cbarzun is dropping by seminar to talk about Alzheimer's and advanced directives. His paper brings a lawyerly eye to the Dworkin-Dresser-Jaworska discussion. It's really terrific -- and short. Worth a read.

I'm sad to hear we've lost Larry Laudan. I love to teach his book, "Truth, Error, and Criminal Law." If you teach evidence or criminal procedure -- or work in epistemology -- it's well worth the read. 1/

It is terrific. It argues that the concept of sovereignty is "obsolete, confused, and pernicious." It's not directly on point, but there's lots that's relevant, and it's worth reading for anyone who'd put any weight on the concept whatsoever.

If you teach consent -- or sexual ethics more generally -- the first story in this Invisibilia episode is a rich real world case. And at the end, there's an insightful interview with @QuillRKukla and Cassie Herbert.

But it's not just that. It also raises questions about friendship. And stereotyping. It's a brilliant book. Thanks @michelleknudsen! 3/n

It's a marvel of a book, relentlessly smart and rigorous. Greasley doesn't flatter anyone's priors. Every view is examined with surgical precision. It's my constant companion when I teach about abortion -- the most helpful guide to the moral questions that it raises.
