Yes! v interesting that longer lag in Yunzhe’s paper was associated with non-local learning. Also ~100ms lag in @gelliott_wimmer’s episodic memory study

Eg if we could index slower timescale / thought-like cycles this may also look like replay but now conscious. This paper from @behrenstimb is an important datapoint as it links DMN (signature of mindwandering) with replay

very interesting read! I liked the formula you propose. Also makes me think that good philosophers of mind are often doing exactly this kind of crucial conceptual work (and they can be given a tough time by neuroscientists who dismiss its importance)

This is a wonderful read and masterful defense of the connection between metacognition and consciousness by @MatthiasMichel_ And I will now be making liberal use of the two-buckets metaphor when teaching meta-d!

Can we use confidence ratings to assess conscious perception? I address this question in a new paper, forthcoming in WIREs Cognitive Science (philpapers.org/rec/MICCIC-3). My answer is "Yes", but it’s not straightforward! A thread.

Re-reading @hakwanlau's In Consciousness We Trust - if you're working on consciousness, this is essential reading... a compelling argument for performance control and an empirical manifesto for charting a path between local and global theories

Nice pair of articles here about language models and awareness in @TheEconomist (£). Sympathise with Agüera y Arcas that social modeling may have been important driver in humans... [link] 1/2
